HAZOP Study
Structured, team-based hazard and operability analysis to IEC and industry standards.
Request This ServiceWhat is a HAZOP Study?
A HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study) is a structured, team-based examination of a process or operation designed to identify and evaluate problems that may represent risks to personnel, equipment, or the environment — or that may prevent efficient operation.
The technique uses a set of guidewords — No, Less, More, Reverse, Other Than, As Well As, Part Of — applied systematically to each process node on the P&ID. Each deviation is examined for possible causes, consequences, existing safeguards, and whether further action is warranted.
HAZOP is typically required by regulators before plant commissioning and is considered the industry-standard method for process hazard analysis under OSHA PSM, API RP 14C, and equivalent frameworks. Raizon has conducted HAZOP studies for fertiliser complexes, refineries, gas processing plants, and petrochemical facilities.
What We Deliver
- HAZOP report with complete worksheets for all nodes
- Action register with assigned responsibilities and target dates
- P&ID markups and redlines highlighting identified deviations
- Recommendations register with risk ranking (High / Medium / Low)
- Executive summary suitable for management and regulators
Who Needs a HAZOP?
Any plant that handles hazardous materials — flammable, toxic, or high-energy — requires a HAZOP before commissioning or significant modification.
